Objective questions grade themselves

Choice, true/false and fill-in-the-blank score the instant an answer lands. Short answers ignore case and spacing, so a right answer typed differently still counts.

  • Instant scoring for choice, true/false and fill-in-the-blank
  • Short answers normalised for case and spacing
  • Add accepted alternatives so near-matches still count

How grading works

Accurate, defensible and quick

Instant objective scoring

Choice, true/false and fill-in-the-blank questions grade the moment they are submitted.

Normalised short answers

Case and spacing are ignored, and you can list accepted alternatives or synonyms.

Score overrides

Change any score by hand; the original, the change and your reason are all kept.

Regrade after a fix

Exclude a question, award credit or accept an extra answer; affected attempts regrade.

Outcome policy

Decide whether a participant's latest, best or first attempt is the one that counts.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which question types grade automatically?

Multiple choice, multiple response, true/false, fill-in-the-blank and short answers all grade automatically. Only long answers need a person.

How does short-answer grading handle typos and variations?

It ignores capitalisation and surrounding spaces, and you can add accepted alternatives such as a synonym or abbreviation, so equivalent answers are marked the same.

Can I change a score after grading?

Yes. Any score can be overridden by hand, and TestSetGo records the original score, the new score and your reason.

What happens if I find a bad question after submissions?

Apply a correction: exclude the question, award everyone credit or accept another answer. Every affected attempt regrades automatically, and the change stays in the audit trail.

If someone takes a test more than once, which score counts?

You choose. An outcome policy per run decides whether the latest, best or first attempt counts towards the pass mark.

Does TestSetGo use AI to grade answers?

No. Grading is rule-based: objective questions match your defined answers, and long answers are marked by a person against your guide. AI only drafts questions, and you approve those.

Let the grading take care of itself

Build a test, share it, and watch objective questions score themselves while long answers queue up fairly.
